Task Types

List or Map View
  1. In the Filter | Create shelf on the left hand side of the screen, you can click Create to enter an individual task.  After clicking Create, you have the option to select Bulk Entry.  This enables you to do a brain dump of all the tasks on your mind.  You can elect to include Priority and Due Dates if you work that way or hide those options by selecting the buttons at the top of the list.

Use the Tag field to related a group of Tasks so you can view them together later.  For instance, if some of the things on your to do list are for a project that you are working on for school, give those tasks the Tag School Project.  Then, later when you just want to focus on that list - or give it to someone else! - you'll be able to click on the Tag name (in the Filter | Create shelf) to recall all of those tasks together.

If you identify each task by Type, you can sort and combine all of your errands together or all of the correspondence you have to do when you have telephone or letter writing time.

A General Task is just that - neither an errand nor correspondence.  You can call all tasks general if you'd like but you won't be able to take advantage of the mapping of your list if you don't use the Errand label.

Errand is any task that has a location associated with it.  If you will get in the habit of entering street addresses and city or zip for places, you will be able to take advantage of a mapped view of your errands for better planning.  Use addresses even for places that YOU know like your favorite drugstore or grocery.  If the addresses are entered, you can see the errands on the map and can assign them to someone else and be assured they know which specific drugstore you use for prescriptions, for instance.

Correspondence are those tasks which require a phone call, email, note or letter.

     2.  At the top of the list view near the date range selection, you can use the check boxes to tell PlumLife which kinds of tasks you want to view at the moment.  If you turn on the undated tasks along with those dated for today, you'll be able to see if there are things on your list that could be accomplished in the vicinity of something on today's list.

    3.  At the top of the list view on the right side, you can toggle between a list view or a list combined with map view.

    4. In the list view, double click on any task to see the details and related map if you have entered an address.
